Art Urbain Montréal

2010
MARIE-DENISE DOUYON

This poster was part of the exhibition Mémoire de l’avenir (2023): an urban poster exhibition representing the works of established and emerging artists.

This project was born from a desire to create connections between different generations of Quebec artists.

The exhibition, curated by Camille Larivée, was made up of 3 pairs, each comprising an emerging artist and an established artist. These encounters allow us to immerse ourselves in Quebec art, in our everyday lives, and to reflect on the progression of certain themes in today's artistic imagination.

From July to September 2023, these posters were exhibited in the streets of Montréal · Tiohtià:ke on Publicité Sauvage’s palisades.

Marie-Denise Douyon's Lumière is aptly named, with its mysterious luminosity emanating from a sumptuous wooden panel made of recycled mixed materials and oil paint. Marie-Denise transports us into her unique imaginary world, where ancestral memories and gentleness come together. The artist invites us to follow her phantasmagorical journey, rooted in the affection for self-reinvention through free creation. It is with this freedom that Marie-Denise breathes fresh life into what has been described as a sanctuary, the inner house.

Poster dimensions: 24 × 36”. Paper: matte, 189 g/m², acid-free.
